"My book represents who I am, how I shop, how I manoeuvre in my own kitchen, and how I keep myself healthy. I hope it will help you."
While she was in the process of writing her book, Lashia met Kathleen Mailer at a presentation at a local Chapters' bookstore. Kathleen spoke about the benefits of self-publishing, which made Lashia realize that it was in her best interest to have professional guidance from start to finish. Lashia signed up for the Book Package and says "I felt relieved, well looked after and excited bout my, at times, scary project."
Lashia relates that "in the mature years of my life, I realized I had a lifetime of practical nutritional knowledge, food preparation experience, and kitchen skills that I could offer to others. My mother's Ukrainian heritage and kitchen practices exposed me to dishes which were made from fresh fruits and vegetables from her own huge garden." Lashia began her own adventures into the culinary arts at the age of nine, and her interest in nutritional health and joy of cooking has continued throughout her life.
Lashia has presented not only recipes for people in similar situations to make and enjoy, but also shopping and planning ideas, healthy food choices at the supermarket, food storage recommendations, kitchen management techniques, and more.
Lashia notes that advertising is essential to get the word out about her book. She was featured in the Fall/Winter 2008 issue of the Canadian Entrepreneurial News, which has a circulation of 50,000 copies across Canada. "Aurora Publishing is helping me produce an information package as an introduction to dentists' and doctors' offices, medical clinics, and senior homes, which are my target markets."
